Atelier Amaro, Warsaw, Poland, 4,5 NJP of 5,0 NJP (28-03-2014 by Nenad Jelisic)
In April 2013, Atelier Amaro was awarded, as the first restaurant in Poland, a Michelin star, and it still is Poland's only restaurant with a Michelin star. Our visit, in January 2014, clearly affirmed that it is worth this star. Poland's most famous chef Wojciech Modest Amaro both owns the restaurant and creates the restaurant's brilliant/modern courses, which are inspired by traditional Polish cuisine. The restaurant's menu is changed once a week and what dishes (a dish is called a moment) are offered are completely controlled by what kind of the fresh local ingredients the restaurant have access to.
With its modern decor and relaxing atmosphere, Atelier Amaro got me and my company to feel good and relaxed. Brilliant service (5,0 NJP), every waiter knew exactly how he should treat guests and what he is talking about when he presented the food. Very knowledgeable and friendly sommelier Pawel Białęcki perfectly combined food with wine (5,0 NJP). I/we great enjoyed, every second, of small appetizers, six-course dinner and wines, from the beginning of the dinner to the end of it. Of the tasted six-courses, I want to highlight these three fabulous ones: 1. the perfectly arranged and spiced veal capriccio 2. the exceptionally fried and perfectly spiced cod fillet and 3. the delicious and in appearance artistic dessert.
The only reason that I give 4,5 NJP of 5,0 to this terrific restaurant is that I had expected dishes with a little more finesse and complexity of the amazing master chef Wojciech Modest Amaro. These about finesse and complexity do not apply to the aforementioned three courses because they could not have more finesse and complexity. I am convinced if Atelier Amaro would begin, as all the other world's most famous restaurants, change the menu once a month or once a quarter would all Atelier Amaro dishes have exceptional finesse and complexity. But, here I want to lift my hat off to the great master chef Wojciech Modest Amaro because he manages to produce such exceptionally good food independent to that he changes the menu weekly.
I very strongly recommend Atelier Amaro to anyone who enjoys exceptional good food, brilliant service, perfectly combined food with wine and really relaxing atmosphere. I guarantee you that you will not regret if you visit the restaurant. PS. You can thank me later after you have visited the restaurant DS.
I also recommend that you visit the restaurant U Fukiera (2,5 NJP). If you do it, send me an answer why has Sharon Stone, Willem Dafoe, Jacques Chirac, George Bush, Catherine Deneuve, Naomi Campbell, Lionel Richie, Claudia Schiffer etc. visited it. Try fried foie gras served on a very sweet and spicy cake (challah) with caramelised apple and calvados. If you have any problems with cholesterol do not come near the restaurant because U Fukiera not saving pull any punches when fat is in question, and even "butter" is made of 100-percent pork fat.
