About NJ Wines

The owner of NJ Wines, Nenad Jelisic (NJ), has always been interested in science. Because of that he first graduated as a Geologist Engineer, then as a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, then as a Licentiate in Geotechnics and finally as a PhD (Doctor) in Geotechnics. For 42 years ago, NJ began to be deeply interested in wine and wine knowledge. Since then, all NJ's free time is spend on wine tastings (a few thousand wines are tasted every year), oenology (some vineyards and wineries are visited, and some wine books and many wine magazines are read every year) and work on the company's independent website. The company was founded in 2004 as a wine and spirits import company (NJ consulting & import), but has changed its focus (and name) in recent years on sharing the wine and food knowledge. The website is the result of a half life-long passion for good wine and good food, which has been provided NJ with a comprehensive wine and food knowledge, that NJ wants to share with others.

NJ Wines's webpages are Scandinavia's best independent webpages about wine, wine countries, wine regions, wine districts, wine reviews, wineries, wine production, appellations, the best vintages, grapes and so on. It is better to say that NJ Wines's webpages have everything that has to do with wine. The uniqueness of these webpages is that they are updated daily and that on the company’s main webpage and all webpages that belong to the "Wine glossary and wine facts" it is possible to see when they were last updated. Moreover, the uniqueness of these webpages is that any information, which exists on them, is checked extremely carefully i.e. if you have read some information on NJ Wines's webpages, you do not need waste your valuable time by checking whether the information is correct.

On the NJ Wines's webpages under "News" you can find results from the latest major wine tastings during which a large number of wines from some wine country or some wine countries have been tasted and rated. Under "The wine of the month" and "Make sure to try these wines, wines that have got at least 3,5 NJP of possible 5,0 NJP" (NJP = Nenad Jelisic Points) you can find wines: 1. that are in Systembolaget's (Systembolaget = a government owned chain of all liquor stores in Sweden) assortment (regular assortment, temporary assortment and order assortment), 2. that are not in Systembolaget's assortment and 3. that have got at least than 3,5 NJP of possible 5,0 NJP. In addition, under "The wine of the Month" and "Make sure to try these wines, wines that have got at least 3,5 NJP of possible 5,0 NJP" you will get advice such as at what temperature these wines should be served and which food goes best with them as well as everything about their production process. Under "Wine glossary and wine facts" you will find everything that has to do with wine and only wines that have gotten 4,5 or 5,0 NJP. Under "The Art of Making a Red Wine" and "The Art of Making a White Wine" you can learn everything about the production of red and white wines. Those two articles will be presented soon.

Regardless of whether NJ Wines has purchased a wine themselves or tasted it at some wine tasting or tasted it at some wine house or had it sent home by some wine producer or some wine importer, NJ Wines rates it the same. When a wine is tasted and rated, the price of the wine is not taken into account, i.e. only the quality, the aging- and development potential and the existing condition of the wine are taken into account, and nothing else.

If your winery wants to submit a wine or wines for review at one of NJ Wines's tastings, contact us and we will give you information how you can do that.
