Dolcetto d’Alba, both an Italian DOC wine and a DOC appellation, which is located in the wine region of Piedmont. The appellation has 1,450 ha under vine. There are 11 different DOC wines made from Dolcetto, but Dolcetto d'Alba wines are the most known. If the wine is aged for 1 year, from January 1 (which comes after the harvest), and has a minimum alcoholic strength of 12.5%, it may be labelled as Superiore. The average yield is 37 hl/ha. In the better Dolcetto d'Alba-wines one feels clearly, in both aroma and taste, violets, black cherry and red berries.. (2015-08)
