Romanée-Conti, a French appellation and a Grand Cru-vineyard that is located in the Vosne-Romanée appellation (and the municipality of Vosne-Romanée) and belongs to the Côte de Nuits wine district which in turn belongs to the Burgundy wine region. The appellation, which is 100% owned by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (so-called monopoly), has 1,81 hectares, is almost square, borders to the north with the Grand Cru-vineyard Richebourg, borders to the east with the Grand Cru-vineyard Romanée Saint Vivant, borders to the south with the Grand Cru-vineyard La Grand Rue and borders to the west with the Grand Cru-vineyard La Romanée. Because the appellation after the phylloxera gave smaller and smaller harvests, it was decided in 1945 that all the vines would be pulled up. Then it took until 1947, when the replanting took place. Today the vines are 78 years old. The permitted yield is 35 hl/ha and the average is incredibly low 13 hl/ha to 29 hl/ha. The cultivation is carried out according to biodynamic principles. From here comes one of the world's most expensive wines and one of the world's most mythical and famous wines: Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Conti.
